Analysing front covers.

On the magazine smash hits, there is a picture of Michael Jackson on the front, it's a long shot view and he is not connecting with the camera, he looks as though he is in the middle of singing his heart out. This is purposely so he looks like he is doing what he does best. It is a special tribute to Michael Jackson, he looks like he is 'rocking out' but he's just singing his heart out. The mode of address is that he isn't connecting with the camera, he isn't doing this because he is singing, and this is a music magazine. Therefore it suggests that the magazine is a lot about music.

The artist on the front is extremely well known and therefore makes is familiar to the target audience and can relate with the magazine. The subsidiary images are pictures of Michael Jackson when he was a little boy. These are smaller because they may not appeal to the audience as much as the cover image would.

The colour scheme is yellow, red, blue and black. And is quite simple.
The masthead at the top is big, bold and bright red. This suggests it is very important, and needs to stand out, and straight to the point.

The buzzword 'FREE' has been used in a subsidiary image, to show there is a free double page poster.

It is obvious it is informal because of the language and images used.
